Resistance is a Good Sign

When my collaborators and I were writing our book, we had some difficult times. We each had our turn experiencing the wrath of the adversary using whatever means he could to wreak havoc in our personal lives and shake our faith. I have found that it is usually the absolute worst (dangling by an eyelash over the canyon of doom) right before it is about to get better--way better. This is sort of the pattern, unfortunately. When you seek Christ, you are going to encounter Satan.

This happened to me a year ago, I got really sick and I caught some bad energy that got stuck and I had no will to live for a few days. It was right after this that I realized that the "friend" I had been talking to, was the one who God had been preparing for me for years. Things got a lot better. Miracles happened. We were really happy, and we got a little respite from Satan.

Currently, he's back, but with about 600,000 friends. He's been working on our family from all angles for 6 months and it feels as though we are about to be destroyed. And yet. It only tells me that something really wonderful is about to happen.

If you are experiencing a perfect storm, remember what James taught,

"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

These are the verses right before the famous verse in James 1:5 that led Joseph Smith into the grove, which led to the restoration of the gospel in our times.

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

It makes me think that perhaps besides just being patient through adversity, God wants us to meditate and ask for wisdom, perhaps about why this trial or what can be learned from it or how to become "perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

Tomorrow night I will be Idaho teaching a Kundalini Yoga meditation class and we'll be doing a meditation to increase in Maturity and Wisdom. If you are anywhere near Pocatello, you should join.

My prayers are with all people in the same situation. Love and light to you all.

Felice

  1. Wow, I didn't realize those verses about counting our adversities as joy were right before asking God for wisdom. It kind of puts it all in perspective, doesn't it?
